One Year Later...
The very last post before this one was one day before we were admitted to Our Lady of the Lake due to uncontrollable vomiting. Carter was dehydrated and started losing weight. 2 weeks of a hospital stay later, and we left with a gtube and Nissen surgery.
This one procedure, I can say without a doubt, has saved our lives. No actual vomit or reflux since August 2017. Carter gags sometimes, a side-effect of the Nissen, and he still has heartburn, but we are on Nexium to help.
Gosh, what else? I got laid off which made our little family suffer for a short while, but good move, God. I had 6 months off to spend with my man and started a wonderful new job at the end of last year.
I guess the biggest news would be our diagnosis. Carter had a positive result with the WES testing we were waiting on. He has a disorder called GRIN1. There are only around 40 verified cases and up until last week, he was the only one. We found a match! And the match is a 14.5 year old boy in Massachusetts. We are eager to learn more!
Carter has also managed to teach himself to sit, which he started in February. And we are now taking small steps in the gait trainer. Moving forward, as always.
It is SO nice to be back! Oh....and my man is a whole TWO YEARS OLD NOW!
